Texas Rising Star

Programs

  • Infants in childcare

    Infant Care

Beginning at 6 weeks, we have low ratios and tenured infant care teachers who will love and nurture your baby into toddlerhood.

  • Toddler Care

Toddlers and twos are all about exploration. Using the five senses each day builds our brains as we learn how the world works.

  • Preschool Care

Our three through five year olds build knowledge every day through new experiences. We learn how to function in a group and then build the skills we will need for Kindergarten.

  • Specialty Classes

We offer two classes for our threes through fives with individual curriculum. Spanish Dual-Language is for 3 through 5 year olds. Transitional Kindergarten is for children turning 5 by December 31st.

  • School Age Care

Our school age program runs afterschool during the academic year and includes full days for most PISD holidays for one single monthly tuition.

  • summer camp for infants, preschool, school age

    Summer Camp

We offer a summer program for all ages. Come for the summer and stay for the school year!

What is our difference?

  • The terminology we use when referring to early childhood education is significant, which is why we are cautious to use the word "preschool." Our program holds NAEYC Accreditation and Texas Rising Star Certification, qualifying us as a "high quality early childhood program." The Huffington Post (2017) argues that the term "daycare" oversimplifies the intricate nature of providing excellent care for young children. It implies a scenario where large groups of children are gathered in an uninteresting environment with caretakers merely supervising them. However, children typically spend a significant amount of time in childcare programs, often as much as 40-50 hours a week, and the activities offered there significantly shape their developing brains. Furthermore, child care centers can provide learning opportunities for families beyond the program's hours, such as parent education and guidance. At our program, we prioritize nurturing each child's unique needs, emotions, and thought processes, taking into account their individual ability to learn. We understand that the first five years are crucial for brain development, and our choice of words when describing our program and personnel acknowledges this responsibility we bear in caring for the children entrusted to us during this critical period.

  • The Weekday Program has been accredited by the NAEYC since the 1990s. and currently, only 2.5% of preschools or childcare centers in Texas hold this accreditation. We recently renewed our accreditation in 2022, ensuring that we maintain the standards required by the most exceptional preschools in the United States. You can trust that our program meets the highest level of quality and excellence.

  • Begin by selecting your desired class schedule for the 9-2 program. Infants and Ones have the option of choosing one to five days per week, while Twos, Threes, and Fours can choose between attending on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, or all five days. Additionally, you can choose to add the early morning extended care program, which runs from 7-9 A.M., as well as the afternoon extended care program, which runs from 2-6:30 P.M.

  • Our program is staffed with experienced teachers and administrators, many of whom have over 20 years of experience in early childhood education. With this level of experience, we are well-equipped to handle any behavioral challenges that arise and bring a wealth of knowledge to finding solutions. Our teachers are committed to staying current with the latest early childhood practices, seeking out 30 hours of continuing education every year. Furthermore, our teachers hold various degrees, including CDAs, Bachelor's degrees, and even Master's degrees. We also offer scholarships to support our new teachers in pursuing formal education.

  • Our outdoor learning environments include a fully equipped outdoor classroom as our fourth outdoor space. This beautiful area boasts a reading corner, art easel and tables, elevated hills, walking paths, a stage for dramatic play, a loose parts building area, a rock digging area, and a sandbox. Our program places a high value on integrating the natural world into our teaching methods, and each class receives over two hours per week to explore and engage with their surroundings.

Jessica White, Director

A Message from the Director:

Since 2015, I have been blessed to lead the incredible group of teachers at the Weekday Program. It is a privilege to be trusted to guide the direction of a school with a history that dates back to 1977. We continue that legacy of providing high-quality childcare in the Plano area as we meet the rigorous guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Texas Rising Star Accreditations. With a core of teachers with tenure of ten to twenty-five years, our program has a stability rarely experienced in childcare. We utilize that depth of knowledge with the responsibility to raise up the next generation of early childhood educators. Our teachers and administrators are dedicated to the best care for each and every child the Lord leads to our classrooms.

Play is at the center of our program since it is at the core of research based learning in early childhood. Learn more by reading my early childhood philosophy HERE. In our classes, you will see rich, play-based experiences each day that include opportunities for children to learn in all of the areas of development that are key to elementary school readiness. BUT we do not just get them ready for kindergarten, our goal is to meet the needs of each child, each day at their personal level of development to give them the skills to successfully move to the next level. Additionally, we have six guiding core values that guide our decisions each day.

Core Values:

  1. We do our work as unto the Lord. Colossians 3:23

  2. We are superior in supervision

  3. We educate parents

  4. Our faith sets us apart - personally and as a school

  5. Teamwork is key

  6. Did you turn it off & back on again? - Including yourself

My door (and email) is open to any teacher and any parent at any time. I love to hear from our families with the great experiences, with questions about early childhood, and when we do not meet expectations. I hope to build a great relationship with your family during your time at the Weekday Program. Join me for our parent education seminars, our school and church events, or just drop me a line. I look forward to getting to know you and your family soon!

“Wow! You actually teach here. At other centers where I worked and I did my observation hours, they just read off of scripts. But your teachers actually teach them.”

I have noticed a huge improvement with both my kids in their development socially, and my daughter has really come out of her shell and now talks non stop! My son loves the STEM projects and the outdoor playground, and it’s been so great for him to make friends.

The staff has been so helpful and accommodating as we went from part time to full time enrollment when job schedules changed, and we were so thankful.

  • Rose P.

We have been with this wonderful school for almost 4 years. My youngest started at 3 months old and my oldest started at 3 years old. To say they love it is an understatement, they only cry when I pick them up because they don’t want to leave. As an educator, this school has it all without the stuffy worksheets. They learn through experiences and spend a lot time developing through play with indoor and outdoor play spaces. As a mom this school is warm, inviting, compassionate, friendly, and go above and beyond expectations. They are transparent with any detail and ready to solve problems as a team.

We love FUMC and their bilingual program! The staff here is amazing! Our daughter has learned so much and the educational activities are leaps about bounds above other programs and she has so much fun everyday! couldn't recommend enough!

  • LaTasha B.

The teachers are fantastic, friendly, and caring they provide great curriculum for the kids. The management team listens and is always working to make the parents feel comfortable. I feel its a very nurturing environment. My son has been going here for 2 years now. Some of the things I enjoy is the options of part time or full-time. If you are nervous like I was, you can start your child off with 2 times a week and change once they get comfortable. There is a parents app you get updates and pictures of your child through out the day.

My son loves all the different activities. He is learning so much and always has something new to tell me about everyday.
